The HEO Inspiration
In the snow-peaked mountain foothills of Kurdistan in the spring of 2007, HelpEachOther was born. There, in the rarefied mountain air, I reflected on life -- both mine, and that of my mother Sedi. Sedi rescued 300 young orphans off the streets of Teheran, and raised them to go to college, instilling in me a deep sense of altruistic giving and wanting to help people. So I became a doctor, and in the cold winter of 1955, came to America to do just that. My mother's altruism guided my heart, and Louis Pasteur guided my mind. But there, high on that mountain, I realized that after 30 years of medical practice I had helped at most 10,000 people.
It was not enough. In that cold thin air, I had the desire to think of something enduring that could help millions of people. That something is HelpEachOther.com, an internet platform where millions of people can connect to help one another, one-to-one. I knew that given the tools, people would give, receive, and share to make a better world.
